Granny’s Cherry Pie is a painting I did for a recent show with the theme of “Breaking Bread.”

Some of my fondest memories of breaking bread are from my childhood at our grandparents house. My papa and uncle would grill for hours. And my mom, grandma, and aunt would bake. There’d be all sorts of baked items, and one of my favorites was granny’s cherry pie. I’d have cherry pie with some of her homemade ice cream. After I left home, she’d still bake cherry pie whenever I visited. But she’d buy the vanilla ice cream. Those were the days.
